2 shark attacks in 3 weeks.

ther have been 2 whaite shark attacks in 2 weeks, on in san diego when the shark attacked a swimmer training in a group of 10 swimmers was fatal before the other swimmers got him into the shore.  the swimmers were training for a triathlon club, this attack happened at 7am. The last fatal shark attack in San Diego County was in June 1959, when a free diver was killed, the DFG said.

then there attack was not fatal and happened in australia, another great white, this attack happened at 7:30 am. the man was able to fght off the shark and get to help.

One of the things I have done alot of research on is sharks and in almost every peice of material i have read, the worst time to swim is when the sun is rising or setting, this is when the light is fading and when sharks have the best suprise.  the amount of shark attacks each year has stayed the same throughout the years and as we have seen when the great white does attack it is messy. because they almost always attack from below and hit with a very strong force that knocks the wind out of their prey, then the sharks stick around and let the prey (usually a seal or sea lion) bklead to death so the claws and teeth do not hurt the shark. many times when sharks do attack humans it is mistaken identity, they bite and realize that the human is not a seal and leaves. luckily  for the man in Australia there was people around to help him, unfortunatly for the man in california, it was not enough to have 10 people to help him.

there are many who say that with the shark opperations out there that chum the waters affect the sharks mentality, research shows different.  the attack in california was rare in that area. with the sharks food being fished out, and their prey having to move to were the food is, then the sharks need to follow. also with the other sharks that the great whites prey upon being killed in masses for thier fins, the sharks are starving.

So please support the Pro shark movement, help the organizations stop the killing of sharks for soup and the black market will allow the sharks feed on what they are supposed to feed on.

Padi is the way to go when learning to Scuba Dive

I have been scuba diving for 10 years now….WOW, it always amazes me how long I have been diving and when I look at my log books how much time I have spent under the surface. I am a Padi scuba diving instructor and have been one for 5 years now, been helping out on courses for 9.5 years now.  So I have seen many different things happen while learning the trade.

When I started out diving I was certified ACUC, I was against padi, I always thought it stood for “Put another dollar in” lol. I progressed up in ACUC to a divemaster, gained alot of experience with my mentors and one of them, Mario, who was an ACUC instructor went to Australia and was offered a job teaching for 60 grand a year plus commissions. WOW, the only thing was that he was not a PADi instructor, so he came back and crossed over to Padi, then he would not stop talking about their system and the fact that because Padi cerifies so many divers they have a great system to guide students to becoming confident divers.

So with mario’s help I crossed over and became a Padi instructor, then I kept talking about them, as I learned their system, I began to see how good it is. how padi learned and tweeked it so the teaching was state of the art, they spend alot of money researching the best teaching methods. I did not have to develop my training like in other agencies, I could follow what works. Since then I have had a great time with Padi and I love how they support their members. We always laugh at how padi is always promoting the next course or what tools to use when diving, but it works and keeps interested divers coming back, Which is what the other agencies I have relations with did not. Also I have loved the fact that anywere I go to scuba dive throughout the world. my card is recognized.

From what I have learned being affiliated with padi has helped me in my current business, it has helped me teach people, promote, and given me the tools to succeed in life.

Cheers,
